I brought my reusable bag (the one I got from Target for 95 cents that folds up small enough to fit into my purse). It was a lovely day to walk. I saved the gasoline. I got a little exercise. In 2007 the World Wildlife Fund created this event to raise awareness of our need to conserve energy and reduce our carbon footprint. In 2007, 2.2 million homes and businesses switched off for an hour. In 2008 50 million homes and businesses participated.<br /><br />This year, the theme is Vote Earth. If you turn off your lights for one hour beginning at 8:30 PM (your time, wherever you are), you're casting a vote for Earth. The goal for this year is to get one billion people to participate.<br /><br />Be one of those people.
